In this chapter, Amir is following an afghani custom in which he visits Soraya's father and also other people at their house. Baba reassures he's fine and can accompany Amir on this. After this, the engagement rituals are rushed due to Baba not being able to live long enough. So, they go through with the wedding and Baba spends his entire savings on it. After that Soraya moves in with Baba and Amir, and Baba dies. Amir gains new adulthood about him, since he can no longer depend on his father. Amir than learns a lot about Soraya's family and their beliefs. Her father believes the monarchy will return to Afghanistan and he will be needed. Amir writes his first book, finds an agent, and then publishes it. Three years after that they try to have a baby but they're infertile. Meaning they can't have children and their doctor recommended them adopting. However, Soraya is against the idea and is stuck in her old traditional beliefs. This chapter was overall good and I can't believe Baba died so soon.
