Loyal or beauty

Today in my ap lit class we continued reading the wife of bath's tale. I really enjoyed her tale because it had a deeper message that I didn't quite get while I was reading it. The deeper tale was the knight losing his control and power. His loss was gained by his wife, in which she got sovereignty over him. At first, I didn't see that as a punishment for him raping a woman. However, it was the greatest punishment and decided by women. So after I thought of it in that sense, I felt ok and happy about the ending of the story. After that, I got an early dismal.
